This Tissot Seastar is a great find, with original dial, hands and crown. Model reference 51003/51004
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1956.
CONDITION
Tissot watches from this period are becoming herder to find in such good condition. The Tissot Seastar is a good model to try and get, as the case is solid stainless steel and not chromed, and the fact it was designed to be waterproof also keeps dirt entering and staining the dial. It is also a very wearable size for modern wrists, rather than the 30-32 mm range that is more common in the 1950’s. Inside that stainless case, accessed via the screw down caseback, is an in house calibre 27-1B Tissot movement with 15 jewels and subseconds, which is keeping good time. The dial is very clean, and the acrylic crystal has only the lightest marks. The leather strap is new, and this could be changed for a different colour easily – drilled lugs make strap changing easier.
