This men’s manual wind watch has a gold filled case with hinged lugs, to make this Longines tank watch fit your wrist perfectly.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1955.
CONDITION
The hinged lugs are a big appeal to this watch, but there is more. The movement for example, is Longines 9LT, which has 17 jewels, sub seconds and is running well. The dial has a raised pattern, a little like the AP Royal Oak, and it is very clean for the age. There is a slight bend to the bottom right corner of the dial, but you may never have noticed that unless we pointed it out. And there is also the case material, with 10k rolled gold showing that this watch was originally destined for the US market, but also rolled gold is far thicker than gold plate so even now, 70 years on, it doesn’t look worn. There is some wear though on the top of the hooded lugs, visible in some of the photographs. The crown may have been changed at some point but not all crowns were signed back then, so possibly not. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
