With a long, sumptuous 18k yellow gold bracelet and black dial this rare Vacheron Constantin feels a million dollars. Model reference 4752.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
By sending photos of the watch that show the case and movement number to Vacheron Constantin they have confirmed that this watch was made in 1953.
CONDITION
The movement is the 18 jewel, hand wound calibre 1001, which at the time of release was the thinnest hand wound movement with seconds hand ever made. This allows the watch to have a slender case, but with the added weight of the gold bracelet this doesn’t feel dainty like some ultra thin watches can do. And let’s talk about that bracelet! Fixed to the case and not removable, the hexagon shapes allow a degree of flexibility and each is decorated with a wavy pattern to further bounce the light around. The clasp allows some adjustment but most importantly it is long enough for most modern wrists. The clasp has the makers mark JF, and we have not been able to identify which talented goldsmith that was. But on a Vacheron Constantin for the bracelet to almost overshadow the watch they certainly were talented. The dial looks all original, and has patina evenly across it Reflections on the crystal make it hard to show, but the video may be better for that. Neither crown nor clasp are signed, but the case back, movement and dial are signed. There is a light scratch on the case back from where a tool has slipped, but overall the condition is remarkable for the age of the watch.
This watch will be supplied with an original presentation box from W. Allemann of Zurich. This came with the watch and may be original to the time, but we have not been able to confirm this. It also comes with our Certificate of Authenticity.

Bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of 198 mm. The bracelet has a ladder clasp to reduce this slightly smaller, but anything else will require a goldsmith.
