The Sutton model was one of seemingly endless Bulova Tank style models of the 1950’s.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the case back and repeated on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1952.

CONDITION

The case is 10k rolled gold, which is a method that Bulova perfected.  Rolled gold is when two thin sheets of gold have a base metal centre, in a sandwich style construction, which is hard wearing and yet keeps the cost down.  10K was an American standard, and that is backed by the Bulova Fifth Avenue stamp on the inside of the case.  The movement is the USA made manual wind calibre 8AC – so this watch qualifies as tariff free if sold to a customer in the US under current tariff rules at time of press.  The dial has three jewels and is quite clean, but there is a scratch near 3.  The barrel shaped crystal also has light scratches.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.  The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.

This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case and cleaning cloth, and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
