With their unique Incastar fine adjustment added to the ETA manual wind movement, this Ernest Borel has a bit more of a story to it than just that.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the long service award engraving on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being gifted in 1951. We double checked the movement, and this was first launched in 1950, so there is no disparity in the chronological evidence to dispute the 1951 date. It does look like this long service award was given by Ernest Borel themselves to M. Andre Suter.
CONDITION
The Incastar device is fixed to the balance lever, and it allows easier regulation of the movement. This development was unique to Ernest Borel, as it was their own invention. The clever part is that is can be fitted to standard movements, in this case ETA supplied their calibre 1080, which reduces costs in R&D a lot. This is fitted into a steel case with screw down case back. The dial does have some patina, but at first glance looks clean. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
