This is Dita Joker a fun, homage watch with a charm we could not resist. No high quality, but a cheap way to smile.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
in 2017 a little known but highly respected Russian watchsmith called Konstantin Chaykin had success at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) where their Joker watch was pre selected for an award for Artistic Crafts. They were up against Hermes, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin among others, so this really elevated the awareness of the company. However their watch was limited to 99 pieces, and at €13,000 each it is a lot to pay. So in stepped Dita who have made a homage – quartz, and far lower quality, but the same overall effect.
CONDITION
The watch is hardly worn, and is in very good condition. The cardboard box is very poor quality but still there. The movements are two individual quartz units, one for the hours and one for the minutes. They run independently, each turning an eye for hours and minutes respectively. The tongue on the Chaykin watch is a moonphase indictor, but here it just flaps about like a pendulum. The strap is bespoke for the watch, but you could tone it down with a plain black strap (why would you tone this down!). These are still available new for similar money to this one at time of press. A very cheap way of generating smiles.
