HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the back of the bottom right lug we can accurately date this watch to being made after 2008, which is when the available data for the serial numbers runs out. We estimate it was made circa 2010. You can see more about the model on Omega’s own website here.
CONDITION
The Seamaster 300M was launched with a blue dial in 1993 and the same design rules still apply to the ones for sale today in any Omega Authorised boutique (new price from £4,450). The early watch found fame when Pierce Brosnan wore one in Goldeneye, and after that it became known as the Bond watch. In 2006 the actor playing James Bond may have changed to Daniel Craig, but the watch was the 300M still.
This version is the quartz, using Omega’s 1538 calibre, and all is working well. We will have to presume the helium escape valve is working, as we are not going to dive 300 metres to find out. In reality no one does, but in case you were wondering that is what the crown at 10 is. The crown screws down cleanly. Both case and bracelet are unpolished, so show light surface swirls but no real damage. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The sapphire crystal has one tiny pinprick mark, which we have tried to show in the video. The dial and hands are excellent. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner.
