This Zenith Port Royal is a scarce watch – we couldn’t find even a picture of another on the internet.  Model number 86-2500-225.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Searching the internet for the model code and imagines drew a blank on this watch.  However, we have a report from Basle watch fair from 1991 that features this exact model.  Given how few seem to be out there this watch must have been made circa 1991.

CONDITION

Just as watchmakers started to make larger, mechanical watches again Zenith introduced this small, quartz watch.  I was not a commercial success, but the quality is still good.  The case and bracelet are stainless steel, and although the bracelet is not stamped Zenith it closely matches the photograph from Basle ’91.  The bezel has a few marks, but no sign of wear to the base metal – there is the chance that the bezel is solid gold.  The crown is signed, but is also worn.  The glass is good, with just minimal marks.  The dial and hands are close to perfect.  Inside the watch is the ETA 955.112 quartz movement used by many top brands, and this movement also features quick set date and end of life indicator for the battery, where the seconds hand jumps several seconds at a time.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
