A New Old Stock (NOS) Zeno de Luxe Chronograph pilots watch from Zeno Watch Basel.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We have sourced this watch directly from the long standing owner of Zeno Watch Basel, but he couldn’t confirm when the watch was made.  The movement first came out in 1973, and is still being used today by many brands, so we are using just the styling to say this was probably made around 1990.

CONDITION

The watch is in New Old Stock condition, and only has very light storage marks.  The strap is branded, but the buckle isn’t.  The movement is the Valjoux 7750, in superior 25 jewel specification, and you will find this in most chronographs from the past 40 years with this three dial and date (or day date) layout.  We have seen examples from IWC, Breitling, TAG Heuer, Panerai, Longines, Tissot etc all using this tough calibre.  The downside of this movement is it is bulky, but Zeno have made the most of this by designing a bulky case and using the movements normal week point to their advantage.  This is a heavy watch and the case, with its squared and tapered surround, is and interesting thing to look at.  The dial is clear and legible, and not dissimilar to the IWC Fliegerchronograph that uses the same movement.  The orange chrono hand is a nice extra splash of colour though.  The date can be quickset.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
