HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Zenith watches of this period do not have serial numbers, but we do have a book authorised by Zenith themselves, and that features a Port Royal with similar bezel design which is credited to circa 1978.
EDIT: Thanks to further information, the Port Royal III models were made between 1979 and 1983, so we have amended the estimate of when this was made to 1979.
CONDITION
If anyone from Zenith is reading this, then be prepared to spend a few francs and have this back in your collection! This watch appears completely unworn – the purple case back protector is still on, the branded strap has no marks around a hole where the watch would have been worn, and the square case has no wear to the plating (to the point where we were looking for hallmarks!). Being rectangular the watch will wear larger than a round watch with similar diameter. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner into the Zenith 49.5 quartz movement. The leather strap is like new, and fitted with the original buckle.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
