This Autolub Tissot has a wonderful blue dial, set off with white hands, and retains the 20mm tropic rubber strap it was delivered on.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The autolub movements do not have serial numbers, but we know from the production dates that this was likely to have been made circa 1973.
CONDITION
The dial! Worth the price alone, but when set off with tritium lume on hands and the unusual hour markers it is worthy of any collection. The chromed case has a few small marks, as they do, but still has the signed crown and screw down case back. The movement, the in house Tissot 2250, was designed to compete with quartz competition but was perhaps a little too revolutionary for the general public. There is a great article on this horological first on Watchinista here. The fact that so many have survived, working, without being serviced is testimony to the quality of the design. The Tropic Sport strap is model 23320, and worth a lot on its own.
