With the same Monnin case as the Heuer 1000, this Aurore Nautic divers watch is a different take on the theme.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The production dates of this movement were 1969 to 1976. The patent (brevet 503.305) was issued in March 1971, and this patent number is stamped inside the case back so this watch must post date 1971. Circa 1973 fits the evidence, but may not be 100% accurate.
MRP SA developed and patented the case with unidirectional bezel, which was used by many manufacturers but most noticeably Heuer. Their model 844 fetches multiples of the price of this Aurore, even when the Heuer was fitted with a quartz movement. The Aurore here uses an ETA automatic, calibre 2783 with quick set date and 25 jewels, which is all working well. The dial is good, but the hands have holes in the lume compound. The acrylic crystal has a very small crack near six, but is otherwise good. The case is good, with the bezel turning crisply and the screw down crown screwing down correctly. The Oyster style bracelet is new, and could be swapped for a leather or rubber strap if preferred.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
