HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Zenith of this period can not be dated accurately by the serial number, but the movement used in this watch was in production between 1972 and 1975, so we have a tight window for dating the watch. It can not be older than 1972.
CONDITION
Seventies Zenith models were somewhat overlooked for a while, but that time is now long gone. It is easy to see why they have jumped back up in peoples opinions. Inside this watch we have their calibre 2562 PC, a 23 jewel automatic movement with calendar that also features extra nice features for the horologists out there such as a ball-bearing crown wheel and beryllium bronze excenter regulator. But when it is on the wrist it is the dial you see, and this dark grey dial is subtle but it is in clean condition. Up close, with magnification, you can see some marks on the original dial but they are not distracting. The case is sharp and without dings, and you have the original crown too. Rarer than that is the original buckle, which finishes the watch nicely. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and buckle.
