Pierre Cardin designed the Espace collection for Jaeger and they had a total of 26 models, all unconventional in design and designed for the space age. They are now highly collectible.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This range was available between 1971 and 1973, so we have picked the mid point.
CONDITION
This is model PC120, and we also have (at time of writing) model PC117. At 34x40mm it wears quite large, but as the case curves over the wrist it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. The case does however have a ding near 10. These watches use fixed lugs, so you have the choice of an open ended leather strap or a NATO/ZULU style strap – we have picked this brown striped NATO as it is the closest we have that matches the photo of this watch in Pieter Doensen’s book Watch, but we will also include the black leather version too as shown in some of the pictures. The calibre 36 movement has 17 jewels, is hand wind only, and is keeping reasonable time and is still fitted with the original hidden signed crown.
