Co signed with the selling jewelers name, this Corum Longchamp is a rare bird and even has the original buckle still.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Corum released the Longchamp model with the ‘invisible lugs’ in 1957. The movement in this watch dates between 1955 and 1967, so 1960 seems a likely date. We have reached out to TA Henns, who are still in business, to see if they have more information but they didn’t. However Corum did say that they think the watch was produced in late sixties, so we are going to go with circa 1967.
CONDITION
Co signed dials have had a bad reputation more recently, as a Rolex co signed with Tiffany on the dial is worth a lot more than a standard Rolex, which has lead to fakes. However there is no danger of that here, as the jeweller involved is not a household name so adds interest but not necessarily value – in fact this is at the time of press the cheapest mechanical Corum watch on C24. The case is steel with a gold bezel, and as the bezel is not hallmarked we have to sell it as yellow metal. However there is no wear through to any base metal so you can draw your own conclusions. The quartered dial does have a lot of bubbling and staining, but is original. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred. The buckle is gold plated and although worn it is fantastic to have the original buckle. The ETA movement, calibre 2391, is running nicely and is signed for Corum.
