Certina used the Kurth Freres branding on their best watches in honour of the founders of Certina, Kurth brothers, Adolf and Alfred.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can date this watch to being made circa 1966. The hallmarks are Swiss, and can not be used for dating purposes.
CONDITION
Red gold has a richer colour than ‘standard’ yellow gold, and can also be called rose gold. But Certina called it red gold, so we will stick with that. The case is all in good shape, but the case back does have a dent. The movement used is the in house calibre 28-10, which has 17 jewels and fine adjustment on the balance as well as shock protection, and it is running sweetly. The Kurth brothers would still be proud of this watch that bears their name! The dial has a couple of small marks but is original and has not been repainted. The crown may be a later replacement, as it is not signed. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
