This Olma Sport shows that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have a mechanical vintage Swiss watch.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The Olma Sport logo was registered in 1961. And the production serial number on the inside of the case back is 461, which is likely to be either for April 1961 or 4th quarter 1961. It seems highly probable this watch was made in 1961.
CONDITION
We had one of these before, and it sold the same day it was listed, so we had to buy another. This one is not NOS like the previous one, but still it is in good condition. The FHF96 hand winding movement is working well and keeping good time. The light gold dial is clean and set off nicely by gold hands. We have complimented this by fitting a new strap with a gold tone buckle, but you could have different coloured straps and buckles – just ask. Changing them is easy via the drilled lugs. This watch has the perfect proportions – lug width should be roughly half the case size.
