This Roamer Super Shock, dating from circa 1956, has the hand winding MST 372 movement and very nice patterned dial.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The in house MST 372 movement had a long production life, from 1944 to 1962. As it developed it was fitted with various levels of shock protection, and the Super Shock was the middle incarnation.  Furthermore, the Breveté* (Swiss Patent numbers) for the improved waterproof case were only granted in 1955, so it must be later than that.  We have found an advert dated to 1956 for a similar Super Shock model, so we can be quite confident that this watch was made circa 1956.

CONDITION

The fact that this watch was fitted with an improved water proof case has help preserve the all important dial.  This raised dials can quickly become dirty, particularly if the owner smoked, but this one is in wonderful condition and the hands look to be original too.  The photos without the crystal fitted show the dial to its true quality without the reflections the crystals always bring.  The stainless steel case is tight, as it should be, and the split stem crown is a good fit too if slightly wobbly.  The writing on the rear of the watch case shows very little wear, and we have fitted a new leather strap to make this ready to wear.

*Breveté numbers 305467, 305776, 307382 and 308491
