This ladies cocktail watch was made by one of the more prestigious watch manufacturers, Girard-Perregaux.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Girard-Perregaux watches of this period are difficult to date, but the movement fitted to this watch was in production in the mid fifties.
CONDITION
This small and elegant watch would have fitted right in at any cocktail party. Girard-Perregaux have a long history, but during this period they were making cheaper watches for a wider market share. Therefore on this watch the case is chromed rather than steel, and it has just a touch of wear ont he high points of the central lug. The movement is not a full in house design, but instead it uses an AS969 which Girard-Perregaux modified slightly and called their FU60. These do not make this a bad watch, but helps to explain why this is so cheap when compared to the cheapest new ladies Girard-Perregaux at over £11,000! The dial has some marks, but given how small this is they may not be noticeable without the enlarged photos we have here. The stainless steel bracelet is not branded Girard-Perregaux, but has a nice expanding clasp for all day comfort. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
