The Calendograf was a triple calendar watch from Movado at their very best, and this example is in 18k gold. Model reference R4776
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This watch has Swiss hallmarks, which are not possible to date. But we know this movement was made from 1945 to 1954, so we have picked a mid point year to say this watch was built circa 1950.
CONDITION
The calibre 475 movement, based on an original design by Frédéric Piguet is all running very well and the pushers on the crown side to advance the month and the date are both fully functioning. You set the day by turning the hands past midnight, but the quickset date and month are very useful if this watch is worn in rotation with other nice watches. What elevates this particular example though is the condition of the dial. It has not been repainted, but all the date numbers are not rubbed at all and only a few tiny marks of dirt can be seen. For a watch of this period to survive so well cosmetically when not in a waterproof case is exceptional. Not all models were stamped Calendograf on the dial but the movements are the same. The strap is a new leather one, and this can be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
