This Cortebert Oversized watch has classic proportions, in a case larger than average for the time.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Several different versions of the company Cortebert have been registered, some back to 1880.  But this watch has an in house watch movement that is dated by one source to circa 1942.  That, and the styling clues such as fixed lugs, is a date we are happy to work with.  If you know of a better way to date this brand then please do Contact Us.

CONDITION

The watch is pretty good for something made during WW2.  The dial is fairly clean, with just even patina that you should expect for something 75+ years old apart from a small scratch near 4.  The leaf hands appear original, and run right to the edge of the dial.  Neither the dial nor the hands not have any lume applied when new, so no concerns about radium on this watch.  The acrylic crystal has been changed for a new one, and the strap is a new one piece nylon item.  The movement is the in house Cortebert 581, and this has had been adjusted to ensure it runs well.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
