This reissue of a 70’s classic had the nickname Stars and Stripes for obvious reasons. Model reference 96K101
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We bought this watch new in 2020. However we know from the date code on the case back that this watch was made in 2017. The watch is unworn.
CONDITION
An original 1970’s Stars and Stripes Bulova would cost you about £2,000. The reissue we have here had a RRP of £545, and the one we have costs less still. There is a good review of this model on Worn and Wound here that was written at the model launch, and gives an independent viewpoint of the model.
The movement is Bulova’s 262Khz quartz, so you get a very smooth sweep on the chronograph central seconds hand as shown in the video (but the constant seconds hand ticks twice a second). This is a large watch, as the original was, but if that is what you want it is good choice. The screwdriver is a odd inclusion in the package – there is nothing to unscrew on the watch or bracelet!
