This PR50 has the same automatic movement as the Tudor Black Bay used to use, for a fraction of the price.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied warranty card we can see the watch was sold in 2008. The hand completed serial number on the card makes no sense, but the same model (albeit the ladies version) also features in the booklet that accompanies the watch, and that book was printed in 2007, so it is highly likely the card, box and watch have been together since day one.
CONDITION
This Swiss made Tissot PR50 watch has some solid foundations. The movement is an ETA 2824-2 is a 25 jewel automatic calibre that is a pleasant surprise – you will often find these in watches in more expensive watches – this article lists just a few of them. The crystal is Sapphire glass, highly scratch resistant and faultless on this example. The case is stainless steel with a gold plated bezel. Both of these have light marks from wear and tear, but not damage, The case has been cleaned by hand, and the bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath – this is important with folded links bracelets, as it shakes loose dirt trapped in nooks and crannies. The bracelet is a good length and again just has wear and tear as should be expected. A new Tissot automatic with bracelet is currently £435, so this represents excellent value.
