This 1987 Rolex Datejust, model 16030 in a 36mm case, has very interesting paperwork that even includes the original purchase receipt.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number between the bottom lugs, which we have checked matches the paperwork, we can accurately date this watch to being made and sold in 1987.
CONDITION
There are always Datejust models available for sale, so what sets this one apart? The white dial is one point. It is not a Buckley dial, although it is similar, as a Buckley dial has painted numerals and not the applied numerals this watch has. But the real point of difference with this Datejust is the paperwork. We have the box, albeit without the internal card to hold the watch. But we also have the wallet, with this watches serial number, and inside the wallet is the matching chronometer certificate. Also in the wallet is the business card from the supplying dealer, and we know this because we also have the original purchase receipt from the same jewellers. This 1987 Rolex cost £853.00 back in December that year. We also have the calendar card, and a Rolex booklet. Inside this watch is Rolex’s 3035 movement, which has quick set date, and the calendar wheel has open 6 and 9 – this was phased out in the late 80’s, so is a real positive.
