HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1986.
CONDITION
Most Omega Constellation models of this era were the quartz version, in a 33mm case. Automatic movements were seen as a little old fashioned in the mid eighties and quartz was the more popular choice. But someone spent the money and bought the larger, chronometer rated automatic which is what we have here, and this appeals to the current market far more than the quartz. The movement is calibre 1111, a 21 jewel auto visible via the exhibition case back. This is made of sapphire crystal (like the front crystal), and is not an aftermarket fit – you can see on Omega’s own website for this model the exhibition case back was standard equipment. The movement has 21 jewels, quick set date and hacking. This is the bi metal version of the Constellation, with 18k gold bezel and 18k full bar links. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The dial is very clean, as are the hands, and the only real damage is a small ding in the bezel near ten.
