A 1983 Tissot Seastar, complete with Sapphire crystal, that absolutely is typical of the styling of the time.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Tissot calibre 3392 movement was a rebadged ETA 255.111, and according the Tissot: 150 Years of History book was only available in 1983.
CONDITION
1983 was a tough time for the Swiss watch industry, with sales falling to WWII levels. At Tissot they were going through a merger/takeover to ensure they survived, and this was lead by Nicholas Hayek, who owned Blancpain, who lead the re-emergence of Tissot.
The super slim case is possible due to the ETA movement, and the flat sapphire crystal – this will feel impossibly thin for anyone used to wearing a modern watch. The bracelet is long, and has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The bracelet shows some signs of wear on the gold plated links, as to be expected, but overall is good and presentable. The golden dial has a glitter effect that catches the light nicely. The movement has quick set date and an end of life indicator, and will be fitted with a fresh battery before being sent out. The tiny crown is still signed with the Tissot T.
This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
