This 1979 Omega de Ville, model number 196.0159, is the cheapest men’s Omega we have offered on our site.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the cal. 1332 seventeen jewel quartz movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1979.
CONDITION
The watch works perfectly, but there is an issue. The 20 micron gold plating on the bracelet is lifting off in places, meaning you will probably need to find a new bracelet or get this one replated if this is going to be an everyday watch. Likewise, the plating is lifting off the crown. So this watch is sold as a working project – someone might have the same watch with a good bracelet but non working movement, or has a gold plating contact. The hour is adjusted via the crown, jumping in 1 hour sections, and the minutes are adjusted via the push button at 2. The bracelet is full length and can be adjusted without special tools. The dial is pretty good, and the glass has just the tiniest nibble near the crown. The case has a scratch at 7.
