HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the supplied paperwork, which includes the original purchase receipt for £32, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in September 1976.
New Old Stock (NOS) is not a phrase we use lightly. But we can not see any signs of wear on this watch. There were a few very light scratches on the acrylic crystal that have been polished out since the photos were taken – the crystal is designed like the Seiko Elnix or Rado faceted glass crystals, but is actually flat topped – the facets are on the inside. Unusually for quartz watches this watch has a sweep second, because it is a quartz controlled balance wheel. Our friends at Electric Watches have done a write up on these calibre 63 movements here. The bracelet is full length, although not marked Timex.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.
Please see the HD video for more detail. All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned. We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
