The Advan was a premium brand for Seiko, offering a bit more than the 5 range but below the King and Grand Seiko models. Model reference 7019-7360
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1975.
CONDITION
All the references seem to point to this being a Japan only model, but we can not confirm this. we can say this watch was made in Japan, at the Daini factory that also made the King Seiko models.
This Advan model has two stand out features. One is the electric blue dial, which Seiko did superbly in the 1970’s. This is in good condition, with just light patina, and features the large star logo unique to the Advan range above six. The second feature isn’t immediately obvious, but the crystal is faceted all around the edge. Some Seiko models had facets that cut across the dial, and they don’t always make reading the time easy as they distort the hands. On this watch the edge of the glass is faceted, which we have tried to show in the video. This edge cut leaves the dial unobstructed, and the crystal is perfect. The stainless steel case does have some marks, but it is straight and honest. The 21 jewel Seiko calibre 7019A movement is automatic wind only, and the quick set for both day and date still works. You can display the day in either Kanji or English. The dark blue leather strap is a new replacement and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
