This was Citizen answering the Seiko 6139 chronographs, but the Citizen movement can also be hand wound. Model reference 67-9631.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in April 1974.
CONDITION
The 6139A movement from Seiko was one of the first automatic chronograph movements ever made, but it does have a flaw – you can not hand wind it. When Citizen launched their calibre 8110A movement, like the one we have here, your could manually wind the watch and this is something that many collectors prefer to do, at least to get the watch started in the morning. The Citizen also has a higher jewel count at 23, and snail cam fine adjustment on the balance. You also get quick set day and date – the day wheel is quick set by plling the crown to position 1, then pressing the lower pusher. You can chose between English or French languages, although the red SUN is faded. The electric blue dial is very eye catching, and the yellow chronograph hands work well with it – there is no running seconds. The bracelet is is not by Citizen, but by Bambi, and it is a good length. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
