This solid gold, manual wind ladies Tissot vintage watch has a case and bracelet made by their sister company at the time, Omega.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We can normally date Tissot watches from the serial number on the movement, but in this case the disc that hold the serial number has been lost over the years.  However, from the London import hallmark on the solid gold case and bracelet we can date this watch to being assayed in 1973.

CONDITION

Tissot and Omega merged in 1930, and on early watches both names can feature on the dial.  After a short period this stopped, but the combined company continued to share technology and parts.  Many Tissot movements have parts that interchange with Omega movements for example.  In this example the solid gold case and bracelet is stamped OWC – Omega Watch Company, but the movement is Tissot’s 2400 17 jewel manual wind calibre.  The inside of the case back is stamped Tissot too, along with the model code and the import hallmarks.  There was a high import tax to pay on complete gold watches, so it is more common to see Swiss movements inside English made cases by Dennison or BWC.  But this is fully Swiss made.  The clasp, signed with a T logo, is in good order.  The bracelet has a few kinks, which isn’t uncommon with mesh bracelets, but these disappear on the wrist.

This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
