This super slim manual wind Tissot Stylist men’s watch has a dial that resembles the most important watch to launch in 1972. Model reference 41 430.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972.
CONDITION
The gold waffle dial is very similar to the trapisserie dial used by Audemars Piguet on their Royal Oak, which first came out in 1972. We wonder which came first, but as a 1972 Royal oak would be circa £40,000 it is not important! It does have some marks on the dial, and they can be different in different lights thanks to the raised pattern of the dial reflecting light. The video shows this to the best effect. The bracelet isn’t marked Tissot but does suit the watch and is in wonderful condition, but you might want a leather strap on this instead. The case has hardly any signs of wear. The crown is the original Tissot marked one, and this powers a Tissot 2140 movement that has a secret – it is a rebadged Omega 620 from when Tissot and Omega shared movements, which is never a bad thing.
