With the popular calibre 565, this Omega De Ville was presented by Hamleys toy shop in London. Model reference 166.5020
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
While the long service award is not dated, the serial number on the movement means we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972.
CONDITION
Hamleys calls itself the finest toy shop in the World, and it is probably not only accurate but also one of the oldest – it was founded in 1760. Their long serving employee, J Vaughn, also got a fine reward gift for this service in a slid gold Omega watch with one of their best automatic movements. The calibre 565 is a watchmakers favourite – I am yet to meet a watchmaker who has not got or had one of these movements in their personal collection. It has 24 jewels, swan neck fine adjustment and a quirky quick set date where you pull the crown out a bit further than normal – this is shown in the video. Condition wise this is a very nice example, still with the original signed crystal and gold plated buckle. The dial is very clean, with just one light scratch at 24. The Omega website shows the same watch, but in stainless steel, here. The Hirsch calf leather strap is very lightly used, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred (providing we can find the right taper for the 14mm buckle.)
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
