An automatic Bulova 9k solid gold men’s vintage watch that was inscribed for a gift for an employee of British Shoe Corporation in 1973.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1972, but the long service inscription is from 1973. While either year would be valid for a birth year watch, 1973 has the more obvious connection.
CONDITION
The watch has a lot going for it. Being automatic it not only makes it easier to wear daily, but prevent wear on the crown – this still has the original signed crown in place. Automatic movements are also thicker than manual wind movements, thanks to the oscillation weight on the back. That means the gold case needs more gold to be used. There are tool makers on the case back where someone has tried and failed to open the watch in the past – this is a front loader, and the movement is accessed via the crystal, but the sides and top of the watch look good still. We have fitted a new leather band to ensure this is ready to be enjoyed.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
