The Omega Seamaster Memomatic added not one, but two horological firsts.  Model reference 166.071

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1971.

CONDITION

You would think by the 1970’s most mechanical ideas had been mastered.  But the Memomatic was the first to have the alarm wound by the automatic movement, and also the first to have two discs to set the alarm to the nearest minute ( Alarm watches like the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox and Seiko Bell-Matic you set to roughly within ten minutes).  The 980 movement is also simple to operate, with a three position button at 2 and a crown at 4.  The watch also has a quick set date pusher at 3.  This example is in the same case as the Omega Flightmaster, and although th bracelet appears to be the original you could wear this with any 20mm strap if you preferred.  The bracelet number is stamped 174 and clasp 1170 for those how like these sort of details.  Everything is working as intended.  This is a chunky watch, so might suit those who are not used to the generally smaller size of vintage watches as well as those of use who like to change things up.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
