A scarce model , 1971 IWC number 3402, with a blue dial and a calendar wheel also in blue. A big size for a vintage watch,
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We can date this to 1971 because we have checked the movement against the manufacturers database, and this style of watch also appeared in the 1972 IWC catalogue.
The blue dial is stunning in the flesh, almost looking dark purple in some lights. There is a small scratch on the dial just above the International Watch Co logo. The case has been polished but is in good shape. The crown has been replaced with an aftermarket one, but this watch does have a genuine (if later) IWC buckle on the leather strap. This watch wears really well, and the sweep second hand is so smooth. The 12 jewel movement is an IWC marked version of the ESA 9162, meaning spares are easy to obtain if needed.
Approximately 39.9mm wide including the crown, 11.3mm thick. Takes an 20mm strap.
