A petite mechanical ladies Tissot watch with a clean and legible dial, dating from 1969.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the in house movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969.

CONDITION

1969 was the year that, on Christmas day, Seiko launched the first quartz watch.  This cheaper technology drove down prices, so this Tissot was made at a time where brands would develop their own movements to improve quality, rather than chase the lowest production price.

This watch has the Caliber 709-2 that was developed by Tissot.  It has 17 jewels and a Swiss lever movement.  The model of this watch is 17194-13.  The watch is hand winding only, via the crown signed with a T for Tissot.  The case back is stainless steel.  The dial is good, but does have a couple of marks – one at 53, and the other near the centre.  The caseback also has a few scratches, but this is not seen when the watch is on the wrist.  The case plating isn’t showing much wear, and we have fitted a new 9mm leather strap with gold tone buckle.

This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
