This is a Smith’s pendant watch, model Y839, is designed to be worn on a chain around the neck.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

By looking at the collection of old Smiths catalogues we have we can date this watch to 1968 .  The catalogue picture shows the watch upside down, like a nurses watch, whereas this watch has twelve at the top.

CONDITION

This is a fun, unusual watch.  Inside is a mechanical hand wound jeweled movement, and the watch is a simple two hand time only affair.  However the asymmetrical, fluted case is a real eye catcher.  The dial is very clean, and we have fitted a new crystal to make the most of this. This would be supplied without a neck chain, so you can choose the length, design and material for your own preferences or use an existing chain you have.
