HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in January 1968.
CONDITION
This is a Citizen, not a Rolex, so we can not compare the two watches fairly. For example, the fluted bezel on the Citizen Homer Date is chromed, not white gold. The movement used isn’t an automatic either, but Citizen’s 1802, a 21 jewel manual wind with triple parashock system and semi quick set date (past midnight, then wind the hands back to about 20.00, and go past midnight again – repeat until the correct date shows). The date is behind an internal magnifier (not a cyclops sticking upwards), and that is likely a sign of the original crystal. And while the case on the Citizen is also stainless steel and resembles the Oyster case in design, the crown is not screwed down and the Citizen is a little larger too. The condition of this watch is nice, with a clean dial and little to nothing to really report barring a little wear to the chrome bezel. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
