This Omega Seamaster has extra thick gold plating on the case, and one of the favourite movements of most watchmakers inside. Model 166.002.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1966.
CONDITION
The Omega Seamaster was first introduced in 1948, and is still one of the mainstay’s of the Omega range. Why do we claim that the Omega calibre 565 is the watchmakers favourite movement? Well it is purely subjective, but every watchmaker we have talked to seems to own a calibre 565 watch. Ask your watchmaker for his opinion. This 24 jewel movement has a quick set date that works by pulling the crown out to position 2, and this works perfectly. The case is plated to 40 microns, twice as thick as usual, and only really shows wear on the lug tips. The dial has a few spots of patina when looking closely, but on the wrist these are harder to spot. The dial also has the applied logo, which was dropped for a printed logo a few years later. The strap is lightly used but good quality – this can be swapped if required for a different colour or style. Both crystal and crown are signed.
