In exceptionally good condition, this Nivada gold watch can not have been worn much.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the Edinburgh hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1965.
CONDITION
Normally we remove this style of expanding straps, but this one stood out. It had soe tarnish, which came off easily but showed some age, and we have not cleaned the strap. Normally these expanding straps trap dirt and are tough to clean, but as shown in the video this doesn’t need cleaning. It looks unworn. Similarly the box had the foam deteriorate, so we cleaned that up. If this watch box had not been opened since it was bought home we would not be surprised. The watch has no marks on it, other than very light scratches on the case back from the bracelet touching it. The case was made by British Watch Cases (BWC), and the movement is stamped Nivada and is the 17 jewel version of the AS1686. All is working well.
