A clean and highly original Omega Seamaster, which was a long service award from Coca-Cola. Model reference 165.002.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1965. But the engraving for long service from Coca-Cola is for 1966. Either year could be a valid birth year watch.
CONDITION
The dial on this Seamaster is particularly nice in design and condition. Not having a date window allows a symmetry that just sits right with the eye. The gold plated case is good, but there are some tool marks on the screw down case back that are historic. Behind that case back is Omega’s copper finished calibre 552, which also has swan neck fine adjustment and 24 jewels. It is running well, and can be hand wound via the signed crown if you don’t want to rely on just the automatic movement. The 20 micron gold plated case is looking good, with some tarnishing (particularly on the rear of the lugs). This can easily be removed with a jewellers cloth, but can not be recreated without waiting years on not being worn, so we have left it on. The buckle does have some wear to the gold plate, showing it is not a brand new copy buckle. The crystal has a small blemish near 4, which we have left alone as it is minor and not worth replacing the signed Omega crystal for. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, crystal and buckle.
