This men’s vintage Smiths Cambrian Raglan watch has a 21 jewel movement and is still in the original box.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Smiths only produced the Cambrian Raglan watch for one year, 1964, according to Barrie Smith’s excellent book on the company, so this watch must have been made then.
CONDITION
This watch hasn’t been worn much. The leather strap does show signs of wear, but is also period so we have left it on in case it is the original. If you would prefer a new strap we can replace the strap in the pictures for free. The dial is very good, and although the second hand is tarnished it still retains the red arrow tip, The case is likewise in very good order, with very little wear to the plating. The original box has some signs of age but again is good for the age (and it is only cardboard lined with velvet and silk, so the fact it survived this well is great.) The manual wind movement is the highest spec 21 jewel version of Smiths TY calibre, and it is running and setting well. Overall it is difficult to criticise this watch too much. Why was this watch only made for one year? We don’t know for sure, but the name Cambrian Raglan doesn’t exactly trip off the tongue like other Smiths lines like Astral or Everest.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
