The Cronos (not chronos) is another hand wound 1960’s Seiko that we can’t seem to find enough of to meet demand. Model reference J14037.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1960.
CONDITION
The first Cronos models were Seiko’s first waterproof watches, launched in 1958 to rival the Citizen Parawater that beat Seiko to make Japan’s first waterproof watch. The calibre 810 has quadruple shock protection, and a high jewel count of 23. Jewels are there to help the longevity of any watch movement, so the more the better on older watches. The dial is original but there are marks on there. The case is stainless steel, and so many of these were gold plated that the stainless steel ones are harder to find. The case is unpolished, so has nice factory crisp edges, but will also show light marks. The green leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case, and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
