A continental silver (0.800) Le Monde ladies wristwatch with silver horseshoe bracelet and green dial.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the production dates of the AS1977 movement we estimate this watch was made circa 1960.  There is no hallmark, as continental silver  has a lower silver content than Sterling Silver (0.800 vs 0.925)

CONDITION

The watch doesn’t appear to have been worn much – the bracelet was free from dirt we would expect to see, and hasn’t been shortened to fit someone either.  The case, case back and bracelet are all stamped 0.800, and the A. Schild 17 jewel movement is working well and keeping good time.  The green dial is nice, and maybe this was designed to represent the turf from a horse race?  Or maybe the horse shoe design bracelet was just to be lucky, possibly for a bride?  Le Monde were actually based out of Milan, Italy, and first registered in 1954.

This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
