You had to work for British Rail for 45 years before they would give you a Tudor gold watch.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the Edinburgh hallmark on the inside of the case back we can accurately date this watch to being assayed in 1959.
CONDITION
We love an inscription on a watch, as it add to the history. 45 Years before this watch was awarded it was 1914, so the same guy worked at British Rail though two world wars before there were deemed deserving enough to get this watch. So what kind of watch did Mr C. A. Collett receive? A nice one is the short answer! The case is solid 9k gold, made by Tudor’s parent company Rolex and stamped accordingly. The movement is an ETA 1260, 17 jewel manual wind one that is branded Tudor. The advantage of Tudor watches over Rolex is that the parts for servicing are easier and cheaper to get, as the movements are not in house Rolex designs. This movement has just been serviced and is keeping good time. The leather strap is also new. The dial has a scratch near six, and the trapped hair at 10 pointed out on the video has now been removed. The rest of the dial is very clean for a watch of this age, and has no sign of either restoration nor of needing it.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
