A grail for some, this Longines Conquest Calendar has a 35mm case and a black dial from a time where both were not the norm. Model 9007
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1959.
CONDITION
Black dialed watches of this time are rare, but add a great maker in Longines, automatic winding with Calendar and a 35mm case and the options are hard to find. The dial is mainly original, but it may have had the lume points topped up many years ago. The wide hour marks have several bevels and reflect the light nicely. The hands are original and straight. The case back has most of the enameled fish still in place, and there is also the name of a previous owner professionally engraved on there. We like your taste Mr. Cooper! The case is gold capped, a technique far thicker than gold plate and you can visibly see how thick the gold is if you look at the edge of the case from the rear, as pointed out in the video. The watch is working nicely. The crown is worn, but original and still completely functional. The leather strap is new, and has been paired with a genuine new Longines buckle. The Conquest Calendar is a highly sought after model, and it is easy to see why.
