A rarer manual wind Omega Seamaster here, rather than the standard automatic movement. Model reference 2964
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1958.
CONDITION
The Seamaster model 2964 can be seen on Omega’s own website now – the dial is different and there is a chance that this could be the model 2970, but Omega don’t publish any information on the 2970 to compare. But the 2964 has the correct calibre 520 movement, like this watch, so it is a likely match.
That movement is running well, and has swan neck adjustment for extra fine timekeeping. Today this would all be shown off behind a glass caseback, but in 1958 it was reserved for the watchmaker. The caseback does have some witness marks where this watch has been worn on a NATO style strap before. The dial is very clean and all the lugs on the stainless steel case are straight and true. The lume in the original hands has darkened over time, but we wouldn’t expect this to glow anymore anyway. The leather strap is new, but the 18mm lugs take springbars so you could add any other strap or bracelet you wanted to. We will be fitting a new armoured crystal shortly.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
