A USSR Mockba 16 jewel men’s watch.  Made in 1957, sold in 1962.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the watch movement we can say this watch movement was made in 1957.  This watch also has the original box and papers, and those papers say 1962.  This is a long time before ‘Just in Time’ manufacturing, and we see this type of discrepancy regularly.  Either year could be considered correct.

CONDITION

This looks like it has spent most of its life in its box.  The case is in very good order, with only the bezel showing any slight scratches.  The two tone dial is clean and all looks original, as do the hands.  The watch winds, sets and runs very well indeed.  We have fitted a new Lizard grain strap that matches the colour of the lume on the hour markers and hands nicely.

SIZE

31.2mm wide including the slimline crown, 11.3mm thick. Takes a 16mm strap.
