In the 1950’s Mystery dial watches were very sought after – especially from premium brands like Longines. Model reference 1053.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1957.
CONDITION
It isn’t really a mystery to see how this watch works. Instead of an hour hand, it has an hour disc that turns. Everything else is conventional, so things like reliability and future spare parts should not be a worry. The movement chosen is Longines’ 23Z, a seventeen jewel manual wind calibre that is all running well. The case is stamped for Longines-Wittnauer, and is 10k gold filled, so this watch was definitely intended to be sold in the USA. The minute hand is quite unique too, in the shape of a skyscraper. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case and cleaning cloth, and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
